Your Balintore & Hilton Community Council is a statutory body set up under the auspices of the Highland Council. It is one of thousands across Scotland.
The members are all unpaid ‘elected’ volunteers who work to improve your community. Amongst our statutory responsibilities are an input into any local planning applications. One example of how this works is that the CC has recently backed local families who objected to a large number of houses being built on what was deemed to be an unsuitable location. The application subsequently was modified from 10 dwellings to just 2.
The CC are regularly in contact with your local Highland Councillors and the Highland Council to improve facilities in the villages.
Some of the things that we have recently done are:
All of this has been achieved in these hard economic times! The Community Council is here to help YOU and we need YOUR support. All of our meetings are open to the public, indeed you are very welcome to attend and to express your views. You can also contact any of your Community Councillors if you have any concerns or ideas to improve the villages.

The Christmas Tree Lights in Balintore were destroyed last year and sadly they have been vandalised again this year. The lights have been shredded and are beyond repair. Each time this has happened it has cost over £400.00 to replace them. As you know everyone in the community helped to fund raise over the year and if you know who destroyed the lights to please report it (in confidence) to the Police 0186289 2215 or the Community Council 01862832981.
There is no point in having another Christmas Tree with lights next year unless the community identifies the vandals and helps to stamp out this kind of behaviour.
Please help us to improve the place we live in and to stamp out VANDALISIM in our community.
